Never mind that the cost of living has declined over the past year, or that many of those receiving social security aren't reliant on that as their retirement income, or that the Social Security system is underfunded, or that calls for additional "stimulus" from the Federal government are rediculous in light of the info that much of the already passed shovel ready stimulus wasn't exactly shovel ready, and therefore hasn't been spent.
Because the cost of living has declined, there's no increase in benefits. But, old folks want a raise; democrats seek to pander to that voting block. End of story.
